Each library's cost is a percentage that is adjusted each year. The figure is arrived at by a formula that takes into account all the activity within the CLC's data services. It includes the following:
- Percentage your library's circulation represents to the group. The figure used is your circulation as reported to the State Library of Ohio for their official figures.
- Percentage of your holdings within the CLC
- Percent of patrons within the CLC
- Percent of hits on CLC paid databases.
- Percent of PCs at your library
Costs not covered by the CLC are minimal. Each library pays its own daily delivery costs either via the agreements with the State Library for MORE or through U.S. Cargo. If we agree on a special project that is not covered in the budget, we each contribute additional dollars. It is not uncommon for us to negotiate group pricing on things that do not directly concern the CLC just as courtesy to one another. We generally give each other a heads-up on what we are up to and ask if anyone wishes to be included. We have found strength in numbers to be very fiscally effective for all concerned.
